Florida Keys Weather
Why are the Florida is Keys one of America's most popular spots for vacations, weddings and relaxed good times? There are many fun activities and beautiful locations here but the biggest attraction of this southern most part of Florida is the warm, sunny perfect weather year-round. Even though the Florida Keys island chain is located further south than mainland Florida the temperatures are usually a few degrees cooler due to the cooling ocean breezes.
With temperatures that average in the 80's and nice ocean breezes year round the Florida Keys is the perfect place for a tropical paradise vacation. During the day this weather makes it perfect to explore the islands. The waters surrounding the 130-mile island chain are always warm and inviting as well so every day is a great day to relax and have fun on the water. At night the island breezes cool the temperature down to a balmy average temperature of 73 degrees which is perfect for lazy walks along sandy beaches, dining outside to perfectly cooked local cuisine, watching the sunset over the water and enjoying yourself at the many bars and nightclubs that abound all over the islands.
There are two seasons here in the Florida Keys; winter also known as the dry season and summer also known as the wet season. During the winter months the sun shines and it hardly ever rains. The summer, while also known as the wet season, does bring rain but usually it is only a brief day shower. During the summer season another season also starts, the hurricane season. This runs from early June through the end of November with the highest chances of a hurricane occurring from mid August to mid October. There is of course plenty of warning if a tropical storm is coming to the Florida Keys and there are plenty of evacuation routes to follow but this time of year also is the time that the weather is actually the most perfect.
